Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin behavior. Dolphins are very social animals that are organized in pods and maintain physical contact.

As we know, dolphins are very social animals that are organized in pods and maintain physical contact, especially in reproduction periods where scientists have discovered that sometime there are up to ten males for each female, making it a strong competition. Although known as friendly and peaceful, we should not forget their wild condition, because when it comes to winning the acceptance of female dolphins, they can show aggressive attitudes and even perform chases and fights. Although these are not usually very violent or deadly, they may result in some injuries.

Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins near Japan. In this short video we can watch Indo-Pacific Bottlenose dolphins and their behavior in herds.

In this short video we can watch Indo-Pacific Bottlenose dolphins and their behavior in herds. As we can see, they are followed by a diver, which is not in danger. Similarly, the video camera does not scare them, so we can say that dolphins can also be man’s best friend. This species differs from the common bottlenose dolphin because they have a thinner body and a more elongated snout, although they are not easy to differentiate. It is unknown if this species is endangered because there is not enough data to predict the approximate number of living individuals.

Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin Pod. In this clip we can watch the behavior of some dolphins when they perceive a boat.

Following the previous video, in this clip we can watch the behavior of some dolphins when they perceive a boat. This species can live in very large pods including even other dolphins that are not part of the same species, such as Common Bottlenose Dolphins or humpback dolphins, however it is more common to see them in pods of 15 members. The Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin is best known for playing with or using marine sponges as tools. Their main predators are sharks and their average lifespan is about 40 years.

Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin facts. Look in detail the main characteristics of this beautiful marine mammal.

Look in detail the main characteristics of this beautiful marine mammal. Their different shades of gray, his belly with small dark spots and the line in their snout that resembles a big smile, make this dolphin a unique species. We can also observe the social behavior and the members that make up the pod, clearly you can identify the mature adults from young who follow them and remain under or behind of the more experienced.

Some of them have marks on their skin due to fishing nets found by accident or the attack of other marine animals.
