How do Dolphins Hear?
How do dolphins hear?
Dolphins hear through a sophisticated hearing sense which is located in small ear openings on both sides of the
head.
However, it is believed that hearing underwater is mainly done through the lower jar bone which conducts sounds to
the middle ear.
Dolphins are able to hear a broader range of frequencies than humans.
While we can hear sounds from 20 Hz to 20 Khz, dolphins are able to hear from 20 to 150 Khz being up to 7 times
more sensitive than human ear.
Therefore we are not even able to hear a large number of sound made by dolphins.
